The Candle Blessing Project
In 2011, Jewish recording artist Stacy Beyer wrote a powerful new melody for the Shabbat candle blessing. She reached out to friends and colleagues, inviting them to participate in a one-of-a-kind "virtual choir." Using the miracles of modern technology, sixty-six Jewish contemporary recording artists, cantors, cantorial soloists, rabbis, and musicians, located in cities and towns across North America, each recorded their individual vocals over Stacy's master backing track. Over many months, Stacy and brilliant co-producer Gary Dales gathered the tracks, edited, mixed, and mastered the separate parts into this stunning whole. The result is nothing short of magnificent.
